There are 92 National Parks existing in India and future plans are there to take them well above a total of 160. Besides this, there are 492 existing Wildlife Sanctuaries. India has exotic wildlife, bird life and plant life existing in the environs of its game sanctuaries.
Some of them, like Ranthambore National Park, are prime examples of Project Tiger's conservation efforts. Keoladeo is famous as one of Asia's finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species. Bandhavgarh and Kanha are one of the finest national parks in the country and have the distinction of harbouring the highest concentration of tigers per unit area of forest. It was earlier the game preserve of the rulers of Rewa. Kaziranga is known all over the world as the home of one-horned rhinoceros - a world heritage site. But Kaziranga is not all about rhinos, it has many other animals, ducks and birds, which visitor can witness as easily as possible either from car or an elephant back. Spread over 520 Km along the banks of the Ramganga river, Corbett National Park was the first in the country and is perhaps still the best. The park was re-christened Corbett National Park in 1957, after Jim Corbett, the legendary British hunter turned naturalist, author and photographer who helped in setting up the park and demarcating its boundaries.

Your next stop is at The Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park formerly known as the Bhartpur Bird Sanctuary. Over 230 species of birds are known to have made the National Park their home. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a declared World Heritage Site.

The tour takes you to the tiger country that inspired Rudyard Kipling for his masterpiece, 'The Jungle Book'. You first visit Bandhavgarh; one of the finest national parks in the country and has the distinction of harbouring the highest concentration of tigers per unit area of forest. It was earlier the game preserve of the rulers of Rewa. Bandhavgarh was declared a National Park in 1968. Since then, numerous steps have been taken to retain Bandhavgarh National Park as an unspoilt natural habitat for a variety of wildlife peculiar to the area. Those include gaur) Indian bison), sloth bear, leopard, porcupine, wild boar, sambhar and spotted deer, among others, and of course, the tiger.
You next visit original Kipling country of which he wrote so vividly in his Jungle Book. The same abundance of wildlife species exists today in Kanha National Park, as it must have when Kipling roamed these parts. Kanha has some 22 species of mammals and some 200 species of birds.

The tour has more than wildlife to offer. From Delhi you fly to Khajuraho, known for beautiful sculptures and is a World Heritage Site. In the afternoon you visit the Eastern & Western Group of Temples. 85 extraordinary temples were built over a relatively brief period of 100 years, from 950 – 1050 A.D. by the Chandela Rajput rulers. Only 22 temples have survived the ravages of time. In the evening witness the Prayer Ceremony.
From here you take a short drive to Panna National Park, where you spend 3 nights in the lodge. Dominated by the splendid Ken River, alternating valleys and plateaus, grasslands, gorges and escarpments, Panna National Park is ideal tiger country. Enjoy the thrill of a jeep safari at night or a boat ride down the Ken River to see crocodiles sunning themselves. The spectacular Raneh Falls are nearby.
Thereafter, you drive to Orchha; it has the rich legacy of the Bundela rulers who built beautiful palaces and temples here in the 16th – 17th century. After your visit of the palaces and temples wherein you get spectacular views of soaring spires and cenotaphs, you drive another 16 kms to Jhansi to connect to your train to Agra to visit the world famous monument to love – The Taj Mahal.
